Johnny Taylor: Bummin' with the Devil
This album by Johnny Taylor from Stand Up! Records is choc-full of funny jokes, crazy-clever punchlines and hip and relevant topics. It is brandy new and will be officially released worldwide on December 7th, 2018. My first thought was that I really like his voice; cool, laid back and easy to listen to. There are 12 extremely humorous tracks on this comedy album, and my favorite one is number 6, Hipster Brawl. It is hilarious. "Hey honey, there's hipsters fighting." You are gonna love the reason WHY the hipsters started fighting. I'm not going to spoil it for you, so I will let you listen to it for yourself. I can't even. Too funny. I also really enjoyed all of the references to music and current events.
Johnny Taylor reminds me of a good friend that you genuinely want to sit and listen to. His stories are interesting and, once again, the punchlines are just so good, too good in fact. You will be drawn into the stories in each track and by the time you hear the ending, you're just cracking up. Bummin' with the Devil felt a lot like sitting down chatting with an old pal; very relaxing, comfortable and entertaining. Something you look forward to.
In comedy, I like those comics that can make you really relate and feel like you've known them forever; Johnny Taylor knocks that out of the park. A master storyteller and comic, this album has something for everyone. This is a comedy album you don't listen to just once - you will find yourself going back to give it a re-listen, time and time again.
Here is some info about Johnny Taylor and links to this album and his social media:
"Johnny Taylor doesn't give a shit about what you think. His raw, personal, and often darkly hilarious style made him a quickly rising star within the California comedy scene. With grizzled vets arguing he got "too good, too quick" he did things his own way and found himself sharing the stage with comedians like Dave Attell and Robin Williams and was soon opening for Iliza Shlesinger and Brian Posehn. Just two years in, his first album "Tangled Up In Plaid" was released on Stand Up! Records and debuted in the iTunes Top 10 comedy releases. With his follow up album and TV Special "Bummin' With The Devil" scheduled for 2018 release, and the pilot of his TV show "Sick Joke" in the can, he's showing no signs of slowing down.Amazon wrote of Taylor's "Tangled Up In Plaid" album, "A man forever in his “blue period” (in color and sensibility), Taylor’s worked to hone a comic sensibility that’s equal parts introspection and intellectual inversion—which is to say, he’s funny, thoughtful, a little mean, a little earnest, and a man who lives up to his Twitter handle (few among us can make that claim). He could be the guy on stage, the guy next to you at the bar, or the guy who’s about to take over American comedy."
